World Exclusive: Franchise Agreements Set To Embrace New Email Standards
Zulu eDM and Haarsma Franchise Lawyers (Haarsma) have collaborated to create the first Franchise Agreement containing references to new email authentication standards. Anti-SPOOF email authentication, known as DMARC (Domain Message Authentication Reporting & Conformance), is already having a far reaching impact on every franchise based business.
Due to the adverse effect franchisees can have on the franchise email (domain) reputation, Haarsma has made changes to their Franchise Agreement under the pre-existing Internet Security Clause. The change expressly forbids a Franchisee from using the Franchise email domain from being used in any unauthorised software applications or in any non-compliant manner.
Once DMARC is implemented the email domain becomes accountable for the first time meaning, that any non-authenticated email will be treated as malicious and will affect the reputation and likelihood of delivery. In some cases that could represent numerous software applications per franchisee that currently sends email.
Email such as web site responders, invoices, important notifications and burst marketing email will all be affected. The management of subscriber compliance will be a key secondary factor with respects to overall email deliverability.
“After protecting our email domain from unauthorised use, it became very clear when working with the Zulu Trusted Sender team that our clients and Franchise groups as a whole have a lot to lose both from a technical and business perspective. Our role as a Franchise Law Firm is to protect our client’s best interest. Now email can be secured as well as being mandated by several Governments, we wanted to ensure that there was protection moving forward for our clients as we and our clients have already experienced email fraud and SPOOF attacks.” Stephen Haarsma, said.
After implementing the protection, organisations will experience a drop in their email reputation. If left this could have long term disastrous effects in the digital World. The Zulu Trusted Sender Program has been designed and successfully implemented to help Franchises navigate the issues.
Organizations globally are seeing a decrease in email engagement. Zulu eDM customers often see email engagement increase and in several instances open rates have increased to over 50%, nearly double Australian averages. This translates to more sales, more informed customers and a more secure internet. Organisations sending under 1,500,000 emails per month that follow current email practices will be disadvantaged over bigger international senders and should rethink their email strategy.
A Free email analyzing tool is available for any organisation to check if they are prepared for this change. In addition business that have suffered from an email scam or attack can use the Free Rescue packs available at http://zuluedm.com/trusted-sender
